7 Science will begin looking at the passing of traits and genetics from parent to offspring in Unit 2 of Cells and Heredity. We will be looking at the different proteins, learning probability of dominant and recessive traits being passed on, and looking into mitosis and meiosis.
8 Science will be having a test on Unit 3 - minerals, the rock cycle and the three types of rocks - when we return from break. The test will be on Thursday January 3rd and a review has been shared in Showbie to help them study for it. After this, we will be looking into earthquakes and volcanic activity.
7 Social Studies will be starting their study of Judaism and the Hebrew culture, looking at the history of its people, patterns in migration, and the way that this ancient faith is practiced and recognized to date. We will behaving a quiz on this and a review will be shared in Showbie closer to that time.
8 Social Studies has been covering the Bill of Rights and the Amendments within. From here they will cover the remaining seventeen, and then go on to look at the rights and responsibilities of citizens today. We will also be going over all parts of the citizenship test that non-citizens are required to take in order to become citizens to help prepare for high school.
