7 Science has been looking at Mitosis and Meiosis and beginning to study sexual and asexual reproduction in organisms. We looked at budding and fission in bacteria - they were very grossed out and we talked about the importance of washing our hands! After this, we will start to look at heredity and traits!
8 Science is preparing for their quiz on the geologic time scale, the laws of superposition, and the absolute and relative dating of rocks. We have our quiz on Friday and spent Wednesday and Thursday of this week reviewing key concepts and ideas. Next up - Minerals and Rock identification!!!!
7 Social Studies is studying Ancient Egypt - we have looked at the importance and impact of the Nile and have started to look at the gross and awesome techniques of mummification and the beliefs relating to the afterlife. We will look at a mummy lab early next week, and possibly create some canopic jars, too!
8 Social Studies is beginning to look at the life and early times of the first colonists in Jamestown! As we continue, we will look at the different ways that colonists lived throughout the region of North America, the impact they had on the native groups that lived there, and the resources they used to survive.
