Not only are the students amped up for Star Wars Episode 7, Winter Break, and traveling to some seriously awesome destinations - I am jealous of some of you - but they are also developing stronger connections to the material we have been covering while applying it towards some pretty cool experiments.
In 6th and 8th Grade Science, we have been studying Energy and Work by creating waterwheels that are then put to the test. Results are then used to calculate Power and Energy - next up will be looking into the Electricity after break ... Time is flying with these students!
7th Grade Science has been pouring through the study of the environment and ecology - food webs, biomes, organization and human impact on the environment have kept them very busy this quarter. Two weeks after our return from winter break we will be focusing our energy on Matter and Energy... get ready for some chemistry!
In Social Studies, 8th Grade is nearing the age of Andrew Jackson as President. We have just wrapped up looking at the changes in American Society following the War of 1812 and are on track to be learning about the Trail of Tears within days of our return.
7th Grade has been studying the religion of Judaism and has made excellent steps in furthering their knowledge of this faith. After we wrap up this Chapter, we will begin the world of Ancient Rome and Greece... Should be Epic! (No pun intended..... but it will be an Odyssey of the mind!!!)
Wishing you all a wonderful break and a happy and healthy 2016!
