7 Science has begun looking at ways that different functions of the body interact with one another on a cellular level. The group has also begun to look at the exchange of gases that go on between cellular respiration and photosynthesis to help different organisms maintain homeostasis. There will be a quiz coming up at the end of this week. A review has been posted in Showbie.
8 Science has begun to review the different concepts that are involved in determining the age of rocks and different non-organic samples. They will have a vocabulary quiz on Wednesday of next week. It will be from lessons one through four in unit two. A review has been posted in Showbie, however it is primarily focusing on vocabulary and the use of absolute dating. After this we will begin to study the different rocks in the world around us including how they are created in the rock cycle.
7 Social Studies has begun to their study of ancient China. This is a large chapter that we will be focusing on. We will be looking at the geography of this ancient land, the different dynasties as well as the different achievements and inventions that were created by this culture.
8 Social Studies is wrapping up chapter 5, which focuses on the period in our nation directly following the Revolutionary War. We have looked at how the articles of confederation needed to be improved and how the Virginia plan and New Jersey plan came together in the great compromise to develop the system of federalism which we use today. We will not be having a test on this chapter but will still be doing the review to demonstrate her understanding of the concepts and vocabulary terms. After this, we will begin to look at citizenship, responsibilities, and our Constitution.
