6 SCI just finished up their study of fluids and buoyancy - next up will be a week of machines, one of power, and one of electricity - should be a great time! The students will work together to create electrical circuits to look at wiring and electricity flow, we will be looking at the amount of energy that a water wheel can create, and reviewing simple machines.
7 SCI wrapped up the foundation of elements, molecules, substances and atoms - we are next going to be diving into the world of the periodic table and figuring out how it is designed, what all those numbers and symbols stand for, and making a MOST WANTED poster based on one of the elements of our choice.
8 SCI just finished studying sound waves and how the ear collects, transfers and helps interpret the noises around us. We will next be studying light energy, the eye, and the broad array of by which light is utilized in the world around us.
7 SS is going to be starting their mini-research projects on ancient Chinese Inventions when we return - they have a list to go off of for required information and a rubric to help guide them as far as expectations. If they would like to, they can put a little time in over break. When we return we will be wrapping up China, and moving on to the study of the Hebrews and Judaism, and then on to the Greeks.
8 SS is delving into the first years of our nation's first President - George Washington - and the hardships that he came across and dealt with as best he could. Once we return, we will look at Hamilton and the banking system - with the help of some lyrics from the musical "Hamilton" - and work our way towards Jefferson as president.
