General Middle School Policies
These are some of the most discussed and brought up issues that we have in middle school. Please be go over these issues and be mindful of them during our time here at school.
Thank you!
1. Students need to arrive to each class on time. If a student knows they will be late for a valid reason, for example they had a question for the teacher after class, they need to get a pass signed on their iPad from the teacher excusing them.
If a student is late without a pass, a verbal warning will be given, the second tardy will result in an email sent to the parent or guardian, and the third and any subsequent tardy will result in an after school detention. Consequences are reset at the beginning of each quarter.
Health Room visits MUST be acknowledged by a teacher writing out a pass for the student needing to go.
2. Missing or incomplete homework, whether it is at home or in a locker will result in a lunch detention or lunch club. When a student reaches four lunch club detentions, an after school detention will also be administered.
3. Middle school students need to bring their iPad to school each day charged enough to complete work through the entire school day. Students will not be allowed to charge their iPads at school. It is part of their daily homework to charge their iPad. If a student forgets his or her iPad or it is not charged enough to complete work, they will use paper and pencil to complete their work. A missing or insufficiently charged iPad is missing work and will result in a lunch club detention. As with any lunch club detention, students will serve after school detentions on the fourth and any subsequent lunch club detentions.
4. As per the student handbook, cell phones, iPods, and cameras must be kept in a student’s locker and turned off. This includes any after school activity. Phones can be used to call home after the activity to secure transportation. Kindles or Nooks can be used for reading at the teacher’s discretion.
5. If a teacher suspects or a student has committed academic dishonesty, the District Administrator will be notified by the teacher. Dishonesty includes but is not limited to plagiarism, copying homework or a test paper.
Consequences may include one or more of the following actions:
a. Redoing the academic product
b. Loss of co-curricular privileges before, during or after school
c. Designation of an “F”, zero, or no credit on the academic product that was involved in the academic dishonesty
d. Retaking the assessment
e. Receiving a lower grade in class
6. Water bottles need to be a standard size and can only contain water, no additives of any kind.
ALSO...
There are 3 minutes between classes. 3 minutes to leave a class, get a drink, use the bathroom, and get to where ever you need to be. This goes with being prepared.
Lockers – they are the schools and you are allowed to keep your things in. If you need to drop off a project early or keep it in my room, please check with me first. I am not responsible for missing or misplaced work left in my classroom. YOU are.
