It was a great first quarter - a LOT of great discussions in social studies with our daily CNN news briefs and learning about so many places, people, and histories! We will continue on that track as the 2nd half of the semester unfolds. In US History, the 8th grade will look at the trials and struggles of an early America as it pulls away from the grasp of England. Geography will continue to develop a better sense of the world and people of the Middle East and begin looking further Eastward in to Asia.
Science will start to switch over into new areas of learning soon, too. 8th and 6th will both dive into the realm of Physics - looking at movement and energy and how it is studied and concepts with simple machines. 7th will begin to look at light and sound waves shortly, also.
We have been busy developing and collecting items for our PTO basket - the theme this year is Sports N' Sweets - if there is something you would like to donate, we would gladly accept. Please have all donations to Ms. Hanson by the 14th of November. The Baskets from all grades will be available for preview during the Holiday Shop and will be raffled off at the Winter Concert!
A LEGO Club is also in the making here at Washington Caldwell - if you have any unused or abandoned LEGOs, we can guarantee a new and loving home for them! Please see Ms. Vogt for details!
Well - I am going to sign out - all this grading has been catching up with me!
Have a wonderful day, and I will be here to answer any questions!
