7 Science is working their way through using different tools for measurement - including the ever popular dial caliper. We have mastered the art of isometric and multidimensional sketching, and now we will add dimensions to the mix.
8 Science is doing an independent iMovie an the different impacts and characteristics of water. This is due on Tuesday. After this, we will look more closely at currents, salt and fresh water, and eventually move on to the water cycle and the atmosphere.
7 Social Studies is looking at the oral histories and story telling traditions of early African societies. We also looked at the origins of the blues movement in America and the impact that early African musicians had on this style of music. Our next area of study will include middle to late Chinese and Japanese culture, followed by the early American societies.
8 Social Studies wrapped up their study of the North on Friday and will begin their study of the South today - Monday. We will look at the culture, lifestyle and economy of the South as well as the impact that Slavery had of the Southeast US.
Track has been wonderful - we will have practice this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Our meet will be this Saturday and I am very excited for our athletes!
We will be having a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) night on Thursday May 18th from 5:30 to 6:30 - all families are invited to attend - from Kindergarten up to Grade 8! There will be hands on activities and challenges as well as several students showing their completed PLTW projects!
