7 Science - Cells are vital to our existence, and the students are beginning to look at the different parts, types, and functions of cells and how they relate to life on earth. We will have a project in the weeks ahead that will require the students to construct a model of the cell and identify its functions and parts - and it can be an edible model at that!
8 Science - We are rocking it! Currently, the 5 spheres of the earth - primarily the geosphere - are being studied as we begin the journey of the elements, rock cycle, tectonic plate motion and theory and continental drift.
7 Social Studies - Students will begin World History by studying the resources and clues that are used to develop ideas about the past - primary and secondary resources, fossils and artifacts. We will look at how nature develops cultures and impacts civilizations, and how ancient times have led to modern society.
8 Social Studies - North America prior to the Columbian Exchange sets the stage for our first few weeks of US History. As we progress, we will reflect on the impact different resources and animals have had on both sides of the continent, the exploration that will lead to the establishment of the early colonies, and the interaction of peoples in the Western Hemisphere.
