7 Science is learning about the human body - first up - the skeletal and muscular systems! No bones about it - we are creating our own skeletons in class, labeling some of the better known bone structures, and looking at how joints and muscle pairs allow us to move! They are doing a fantastic job!
8 Science is working their way towards their next project in PLTW - all their dimensioning is leading them towards creating their own wooden cube puzzles! In small groups / pairs, they will be creating and dimensioning wooden puzzles made up of 27 smaller cubes to study how models translate into drawings and products.
7 Social Studies is studying the Romans, and will have TOGA TUESDAY next week! Should be a very exciting and fun day with gladiatorial discussions, debates on the Laws of the 12 Tables and more! As much as I would like to, I will NOT be able to provide sheets and linens for all, so parents, please let them borrow a twin sheet for school on Tuesday - I will get them to take them home again!
8 Social Studies is looking at the Era of Good Feelings, the political problems that arose between Clay, Jackson, and Adams, and the slow evolution of issues between Northern and Southern states due to the Missouri Compromise. We will be creating short iMovies to cover many of the cultural changes that went on at this time in our Nation.
Volleyball - we will have 2 AWAY games next week Monday and Tuesday - after school, we will be in Ms. Unrath's classroom for some study time before the games. Bus will be leaving from school directly to game and will return to Wash Cald at the end of our final game. I am super excited for our first away matches!!!!
