7 Science did a wonderful job with the Skeletal System, and with the Olympics beginning and the amount of aerobic exercises involved, it was the perfect segue into our next topic - the Cardiovascular & Respiratory systems!!! There will be a short quiz at the end of the unit, and we will be making our own set of demo lungs to see how the muscles in our thorax help us to breathe along the way!
8 Science has just wrapped up the last bit of their study on Darwin and the theory of evolution. Now we dive into the atmosphere and water - studying the planets oceans, lakes, and air for all things wet and necessary for life.
7 Social Studies has tied in the 2018 Olympics with our study of the Greeks - we started off with the geography and government, and now we will begin to work inward towards their mythology, competitions, and inventions. We will end up writing a short myth of our own to describe an event in nature the same way that the Greeks did.
8 Social Studies has begun to look into the man on the twenty dollar bill, Andrew Jackson. We are looking at the impact he has had in government and foreign policy, his close knit kitchen cabinet, and we will be wrapping up with a quiz on his presidency later this week.
