7 Science - We are beginning to look at matter, its properties, and the elements that make up everything we see around us. We will be looking at mass, density, volume, and physical and chemical properties first.
8 Science is moving on to light interactions with mirrors and lenses. We will soon be delving into the EYE - we will check out a lasik procedure and look at how different characteristics and parts of the eye can lead to different obstacles for ophthalmologists and eye-wear developers.
7 Social Studies has their Chinese Invention Project due on the 16th of January. They have had 2 days in the computer lab as well as a research day in class to work on it. I am very excited to see what they think of these early achievements and hope they learned something about where many of our modern technology comes from. After China, we will look into the religion of Judaism and then on to the Greeks!
8 Social Studies has been busy reviewing for the Geography Bee preliminaries this Friday in class, and also studying the 3 Branches of Government. After this, we will check out those 27 Amendments and - a little School House Rock - the Preamble.
Congratulations to the finalists in each grade for the National Geographic Geography Bee! The school finals will take place on Wednesday, January 18 at 1pm and each class will have 2 representatives.
Have a wonderful week!
