7 Science has been working on Mitosis and Meiosis - we talked about the importance of cell reproduction for growth and healing, and in the role it plays with offspring and traits being passed down. They are currently looking at the stages of Mitosis and Meiosis and will have a couple of short quizzes next week on the two types of cell reproduction.
8 Science began working on Minerals and Rocks! We will have a very exciting lab working with different types of identifying traits and characteristics of the rocks. We will then have a rock lab dealing with the different types of rocks, the changes that they undergo, and the forces acting upon them to trigger these changes. We will also have a quiz on Rocks at the end of our study.
7 Social Studies has wrapped up its study of Mesopotamia... no more Akkadians .... We will be turning our attention to the West to Ancient Egypt. A final project will be part of their study of Egypt - a board game that they will work in groups to create in class, each student will have a role to help the group, and a rubric and project directions will be provided as well. I think they will create some awesome games based on Egyptian Civilization!
8 Social Studies will begin their study of the Revolutionary War this week, from the shot heard round the world, to the battles through the colonies, and finally to the separation of ties between England and the American colonies. We will have our chapter test / project turn in for the colonies on Monday, and begin the study of the Revolutionary War on Tuesday.
