7 Science will have a test on heredity and genetics this week Thursday. A review has been sent to Showbie and also in their email to help prepare them for the quiz. It will focus on inheritance, Mendels innovative Punnett squares, and also the changes in bases through transcript and translation.
8 Science is slowly wrapping up their study of the earth and its geologic energies and pressures. I will be posting a quiz review for them in Showbie and sending one to their emails, as well. We are planning on a quiz Friday. They seem to have a strong grasp on the different types of faults, stresses and pressures, and movements that go along with the tectonic plates.
7 Social Studies is beginning their study of the ancient Indian culture, religious beliefs and society. We will have a test on this chapter, but not anytime soon as we have just begun diving into it. The group did an excellent job on their board game projects, and I think that I would like to open that option to other classes for future assessments, as well, because of how well they completed the challenge. Nicely done, 7th graders!
8 Social Studies is looking at the colonies post-Revolutionary War. We will be looking at the trials and challenges to the young nation, the fear of a single leadership, and the birth of government by the people and for the people. After we study our country’s first steps in self governance, we will look at our current political system, citizenship, and the Bill of Rights. When they enter high school, the class will need to be able to take and pass a citizenship test prior to their senior year. The topics we will be studying this month will serve to help further build their foundation.
Reminder - basket items are to be sent to home rooms prior to November 27 for the PTO Raffle Basket. 7th grade theme is: A Cozy Night Indoors
