7 Science finally did their f of dissection and it was a whirlwind. They had a lot of energy and were very excited about it. We will now venture further into the biology of organisms by becoming medical detectives with our PLTW program for the remainder of the year. They will need a notebook just for PLTW and I will collect from time to time to check on labs and assignments.
8 Science has done a nice job with electricity and voltage - we busted out the multi-meters on Friday to look at electrical conductivity with different materials. From here we will carry on learning more about the circuitry and energy flow that we harness and use on a daily basis.
7 Social Studies finished up learning about Japan. Now we will look at some of the indigenous cultures throughout Central and South America - the Maya, Inca, and Aztecs. I think they will enjoy looking at the connection between geography and culture that formed several majestic and powerful empires in th America’s.
8 Social Studies is working our way through the agricultural south - the counterpart to the industrial North. We have looked at the dependence on man power to harvest, plant and maintain the crops throughout the region. The class has looked at the connections the south had with religion and also with slavery. We will be having a quiz on Wednesday to demonstrate what we have learned about this region prior to the Civil War. A review and all notes have been shared with th students in google classroom.
