7 Science is still working on where we left off with our Punnet squares and SpongeBob genetics. Next week, we will create some monsters using Punnet squares and apply what we have learned about genetics to our creations. Then we will look into the way that DNA is translated and transcribed and hopefully have a mini scavenger hunt using clues in RNA. We will have a quiz on Lessons 4,5 and 6 but it will be later in February. A review will be posted in Showbie.
8 Science is going to be studying earthquakes and the technology that goes into building that are earthquake proof. We will be having a test on Unit 4 on Friday, February 8th. A review will be posted in Showbie to help the class study for the assessment.
7 Social Studies is going to begin looking at the culture of the Ancient Greeks - looking at their mythology, their art and entertainment, and also their literature and military prowess. We will be reading a play based on The Odyssey to look at battle and story telling as a way to give life to historical events.
8 Social Studies is still in the early stages of the Jefferson Era - we are going to be learning about the trek westward, the lands and resources and the Nations that Lewis and Clark relied on and interacted with on their journey to the Pacific, and learn more about Sacajawea and the important contributions she made to the corps. At the end of the chapter, we will have an assessment and a review will be posted to help study.
