7 Science is beginning to learn about the periodic table and the many elements within. We are going to be working on a mini project about an element of our choice, giving them attributes and characteristics through personification, while learning about the Bohr models, electron and the many uses of the variety of elements abounding around us.
8 Science has a test on Unit 1 on Tuesday - they did a review in class, and have had their notes and a study guide to help prepare for over a week. They did an awesome job with their most recent lab - soil profiling - to learn about horizon characteristics and nutrient levels. After this - we will start to learn about how different mineral and archaeological samples are dated - using relative and absolute dating techniques.
7 Social Studies has begun to learn about the Ancient Egyptians - we will be doing an in class project about this majestic and mysterious civilization - a game based on ideas and topics we will have covered in the weeks ahead. They will have work and build time in class, but may need a little bit of time outside class to create their trivia cards.
8 Social Studies has taken an interest in the Salem Witch Trials that shook early Massachusetts. We will be conducting a Socratic Circle on Monday using questions of inquiry and opinion. We will than go on to look at the Middle Colonies and end with a quiz on our early American history. A review is provided online in google classroom and also a paper copy was shared with the group.
