7 Science is going to be putting together some edible mixtures and solutions this week (Thursday) and each student came up with some things they would like to contribute for a trail mix-ture. We will continue looking at how elements joint together in different mixtures and solutions, how states of matter can change and also look at how molecules change in terms of energy and movement through the changing states.
8 Science is creating dichotomous keys for several suspicious creatures in the days ahead. They have done a nice job connecting with animal classification, and after we finish looking at changes in living things over time, we are going to shift our gaze to the planet and the many landforms created and destroyed through erosion and deposition.
7 Social Studies is enjoying learning about ancient Mesopotamia - especially the musical parody that we have found to help study major ideas and vocab terms. We will continue learning about this awesome culture and will be making our own cuneiform tablets, checking out ziggurats, and learning more about the many inventions that came along with setting up a new civilization. We will eventually have a quiz and a review will be provided in advance to the students to help them study.
8 Social Studies is learning about the early European explorers that set foot on the "New World" and forever changed its lands, animals, and people. We will be looking at the impact that the Columbian Exchange had on the world, as well as a more in depth look at the Atlantic slave trades.
