6 Science has been working on the 6 different types of simple machines - they should be able to give you examples of each and how they are used to help make our lives easier! We will next be looking at Power and Work, and then some electricity and magnetism. While we will not be having a quiz on simple machines, they will be having some labs coming up!
7 Science took a quick venture into the realm of thermal energy prior to beginning their study of the elements - we will have a poster project due on January 16 of their "Most Wanted" element who should be given a personality, alias, and have other details given as well - they received an example, went over ideas and requirements, and will have time this week in class to work on it.
8 Science has begun the study of light - we are currently looking at the multitude of ways that light interacts with matter, how the color of what we see isn't really the objects true color, and will move on into the parts of the eye, sight, and mirrors.
7 Social Studies has been working to learn more about Ancient China - we have studied the teachings of Confucius, Laozi, and looked at Daoism. We will be sharing our presentations on the Chinese Invention we chose to learn about next week on the 12th.
8 Social Studies has been studying the Federal Banking System under Alexander Hamilton's guidance through excerpts from the musical "Hamilton". We will next learn about the Whiskey Rebellion, and the trials of the newly formed government.
