7 Science is going to be working on their element project, doing research on their chosen atoms and looking at how they are used in the world around us.
8 Science is going to be learning about how samples of rock and different earth samples can be dated to determine their time of origin. Using relative and absolute dating, students will look at several different ways that atomic structure and half life can help to determine the age of fossils, as well.
7 Social Studies is going to continue to learn about the ancient Egyptians- their social structure and polytheistic faith. We will be looking at the process of mummification and their many gods and goddesses that they strove to appease.
8 Social Studies has a Vocab test on Tuesday about the colonies - New England, Middle and Southern. A review was given to them early last week and has been in their google calendar for the past two weeks. They should also know the location of each of the colonies as well as which type of colonial group it belongs to given a blank map.
Report Cards will be going home this Friday - please check them over and sign the envelope for your student to return to their teacher.
National Geographic Bee will be starting on November 11 with our classroom rounds - 2 finalists from each grade will advance to the school bee scheduled for January.
