7 Science is going to move away from the nervous system and on to the reproductive systems. There will not be a quiz at the end of the lesson. From here, we will move on into PLTW and also start looking at frog dissections for similarities between systems and structures.
8 Science is wrapping up our mini-study of weather. We will be starting PLTW in the next week or so, and this year the focus is on electricity and circuitry. I think they will enjoy the logic and application of transistors and loads with the hands on creations we will be building each day.
7 Social Studies is doing a nice job with a timeline about the Islamic Empires. After this we will look a little more closely at China and Japan and the changes that had gone on while other empires rose and fell. After that, it will be on to the early Americas.
8 Social Studies will be heading west once more to check out the Gold Rush. We will look at the cost of living in a mining town and some of the troubles that came along with being so far from home. From there, it is back to the Eastern half of the US, to begin looking at the different ways that life was lived between the North and the South as a precursor to our study of the Civil War.
A reminder that we will be having an assembly on Wednesday at 2:30 for honors and perfect attendance. Also, please check backpacks for report card envelopes and return signed envelopes with your students to let the staff know you received them.
