7 Science is going to be dissecting frogs and then beginning PLTW - Medical Detectives - a real whirlwind of biology is about to ensue! Frogs dissections will be on Tuesday - the day we return to school and students will work as partners to identify different body systems and structures comparable to those we study in our human body units. From there we will need to bring our PLTW notebooks each day for class - these will contain our notes, procedures, and homework for class.
8 Science has begun PLTW - we are learning about the basics of electricity in terms of atomic structure of different elements to determine what allows electrons to flow through different elements - ask them what valence electrons are and how numbers of these determine flow. From here we will look at current and flow, then create our own telegraph machines to see how circuits are created with DC power.
7 Social Studies has quite a stretch from Thursday April 18 until Wednesday April 24. During this time, students need to be reviewing their quiz review on Japan, their vocabulary words, and also completing the Japan Chapter Review numbers 1-14 all. This is going to help them focus in on the big concepts that we have learned about, and prepare them for their quiz on Wednesday April 24 in the afternoon. After this chapter, we will start learning about the Maya, Inca, and Aztec.
8 Social Studies is in the home stretch prior to the Civil War - we are going to begin looking at the agricultural economy of the Southern US and the reliance on crops that was opposite the manufacturing hubs of the North. We will end up having a quiz on the South and I will provide the students with a review in Google Classroom.
