6 SCI has mastered the concept of gravity - ask them why a feather falls faster than a bowling ball - and are ready to dive into the next big concept of FLUIDS! We will be having a quiz Friday, December 22 on fluids and buoyancy, and will be doing a lab using Cartesian divers to retrieve objects in a soda bottle!
7 SCI has been learning about atoms, molecules and compounds, oh my! We will look at the transitions between states of matter, try our hand at separating mixtures through physical changes, and have a quiz when we return from break - a lot of study time!
8 SCI has been figuring out how sounds affects and shapes the world we live in - they seem to have a good understanding f frequency, pitch and wavelength as well as how different mediums create different wave speed. Next up we will look at how materials impact the levels of noise we hear, echoes, and interference.
7 SS has begun their study of China - we kicked it off by looking at the geography of the land, and will soon be taking a closer look at the changes as different dynasties took charge. We will also take a closer look at where so many products we use came from.
8 SS has taken their turn at the citizenship test that so many others have taken over the years - I think it was an eye opener for them as to how much they do not know about their own country and government. We will next look at the early years of our Nation under George Washington and his time as president.
