7 Science is studying the basics of the periodic table and have each chosen an element to create a mini-project on. They each have a list of required facts that they have to include in their research, but they can choose what format that they would like to use to share these facts. 8 Science is working through different sketching techniques in PLTW. We have done some thumbnails, isometric and multi view. We are already half way through the first Lesson - which shows a wonderful work ethic and dedication to the new topics and ideas they are learning about!
7 Social Studies is focusing on the warrior states and battles of Ancient Greece. We have looked at the early wars with Persia - 300 Spartans! We will then go on to look at the differences between Sparta and Athens in terms of government, leadership and culture, and end with Alexander the Great. There will be a quiz in the weeks ahead.
8 Social Studies is learning about the nation under the guidance of Thomas Jefferson. We are currently investigating the Louisiana Purchase and the leadership and trials of Lewis and Clark on this amazing expedition. We will be having a Socratic Circle on Tuesday based on a reading about the Lemhi Shoshone concerning the life and heroism of Sacajawea.
