7 Science will be wrapping up their study of Cells and Heredity this Friday with a test on Meiosis, Mitosis, Genetics, Punnet Squares, Inheritance, and Biotechnology! Whew! We played Jeopardy and used examples from our many labs and projects to help recall key ideas. Very excited to see what they have learned these past weeks!
8 Science has been studying plate tectonics - specifically Mountains and Volcanic Activity. Over the next few days (before Thanksgiving Break) we will learn more about these large forces and creations and begin to study Earthquakes. We will also test our building skills by creating structures and then testing our skills against the power of a man made earthquake.
7 Social Studies wrapped up the study of Egypt and tomorrow (Friday) showed off their knowledge the amazing and ancient civilization with a test today (Thursday). We will begin the study of the Ancient Indian societies on Friday by looking at the geography and climate of India, its resources, and the impact that the land had on the people that lived there.
8 Social Studies turned in some excellent projects that focused on the 13 Colonies. We also had a fun simulation with students portraying the King, Parliament and Colonists - all students were given 10 m&ms as currency at the start, and the King taxed them w duties on things such as shoelaces, the color of their shirt, eating lunch, and so on. Our colonists were very upset at having little say in what they were taxed on - and definitely understood the idea of "No Taxation without Representation"!
Side Note - Our School ROCKS! Congrats to our students, staff, and community for supporting each other and our school to help us become a Wisconsin school that Significantly Exceeds Expectations!
Side Note 2 - All Classroom Basket Items are due on our return from Thanksgiving Break on the 28 of November.
