Seven science has been spending some time researching their elements, and learning about the atom, its nucleus and electron cloud. We are also looking at the different symbols within the periodic table of the elements and will be looking at different combinations of these common elements throughout the earth. We will wrap this up with a round of periodic table bingo and some wonderful presentations. Their element projects are due 29 October.
Eight science has been very productive and learning about the earth and the different forms of erosion and deposition that create the landforms upon it. We will be having some labs starting next week that will help us learn more about the different processes that shape the land around us. We will also look at ways that water wind and gravity affects the soils and rocks to create different landforms.
Seven social studies has begun their study of ancient Egypt. We have looked at their belief in many gods, the use of resources, pyramids and also the geography of this ancient land. From here we will move onto their different inventions and look at their ever lasting legacy. The students have started to create questions for their board games in class. The majority of their project will take place within the classroom.
Eight social studies has begun to look at the different colonies. We just finished looking at looking at the Salem witch trials, and the many differences between the New England and southern colonies. They have also had some time to begin their research on their colony. Just a friendly reminder that the colony project will be due on 1 November.
