7 Science just finished their mini-unit on the Skeltal and Muscular systems of the body. We will next begin to dive into PLTW for a lesson, and then return back to the human body unit. This will continue for the remainder of the quarter and on into the 4th quarter, as well. We will begin by looking at the bodies vital signs - temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and build our knowledge up to the final challenge - a MURDER MYSTERY!!!
8 Science has been looking into the theory of evolution and a man named Charles Darwin. We are currently identifying how certain traits are passed down to offspring, how fossils can provide clues about change, and also checking out how humans can impact populations through artificial selection - teacup chihuahuas and golden doodles are perfect examples!
7 Social Studies is done with their study of the Jewish faith, and will looking into the lifestyles of the Greek and the Famous - we will study mythology and how it was used to explain the natural world around them, their love of government and democracy, and many of their ideas and inventions that changed and challenged the world.
8 Social Studies has been looking at the Era of Good Feelings - the Eerie Canal, a new system of public roads, and an increase of foreign policy! We will wrap up this era by looking at the new cultural impacts that were ushered in with Westward Expansion - artist like Bingham and authors such as James Fenimore Cooper.
