7 Science has been doing an excellent job creating digestive system / excretory system aprons for use with their frog dissections in the weeks ahead. Next up is the nervous system and reproductive system before we dive elbows deep into our frog dissection.
8 Science has begun a short, introductory study of the properties of water, the water cycle and the importance of groundwater and surface water. They will have a quiz on Wednesday the 7th covering the three lessons in unit one.
7 Social Studies has been studying the Greeks and Persians, and are starting to look at the different types of city-states of the ancient Greek world, including Athens and Sparta. We will study their warfare techniques, their different cultures, and the accomplishments and achievements of the people of this era.
8 Social Studies is working Westward - they have studied the trials of the Oregon and Santa Fe Trails, will be looking at the Battle of the Alamo, and also the Bear Flag Republic that was created early on in California's history. We will wrap up with a quiz on the Gold Rush of '49. We will have a test at the end of the chapter.
