7 Science just turned in their cell projects - they were fun-tastic! We are going to continue learning about cells by looking at their contributions to the processes of life as well as how they work together to keep us in a state of homeostasis. After this unit, we will next be looking further into cells and learning about DNA, genetics, and inheritance of traits.
8 Science is studying plate tectonics and how the plates create different landforms. We are going to be studying different volcanic and earthquake activity, as well as taking part in a delicious lab on how new crust is formed and old crust is destroyed. After we wrap up our study of earth, we will move into our unit on water and atmosphere, and then on into electrical circuitry and magnetism.
7 Social Studies has been learning a bit about Buddhism and the founding of this religion. We have been looking at the different faiths in the world and how many societies have been founded based on religious beliefs and rules. After we wrap up Ancient India, we will learn more about the continent of Asia by studying ancient China and Japan.
8 Social Studies just finished up the Revolutionary War - their timelines looked great and they did a nice job looking at cause and effect over an extended time period. Next up, we will be learning about how our country had to establish its own government and create documents to help spread the ideals of the founding fathers. We will be learning more about citizenship and government as we carry on into the new year.
