6 Science has been working to understand the life cycle of our star and the impact that gravity has on developing planets in the Solar System. We are currently learning about the features of our sun - the different layers and how heat radiates t from the core.
7 Science has been working in small groups to dissect a puzzle, dimension it down to the thousandth of an inch, and redesign and reconfigure some of it's elements so that it would be easier for a child with cerebral palsy to solve it. 8 Science has been studying the oceans waves, including familiar terms from our study of sound such as wave length, amplitude, and crest and trough. We are currently reviewing how natural elements can trigger waves, watched some footage of a tsunami, and discussed how volcanic activity creates wave energy, too. 7 Social Studies has been busy learning about the later Chinese dynasties, and will next study Japan and then the Maya, Inca and Aztec. After this, we will dive into the Renaissance and Feudal system. They have been very busy between the Track meet, r awesome field trip, and helping with Senior Brunch. I applaud their efforts! 8 Social Studies is winding up their study of theSouth to the Civil War. We will have a quiz on Tuesday May 16, but in the morning during our normal Science class due to MAPS testing in the afternoon. A final call for 8th grade photos for the slide show - I am missing 2 students, so please talk with your student to make sure that I have them. Also, if hip gave them to me, I still have them, but am waiting for the week of May 15 to begin the slideshow. They will be returning home soon! STEM Night is May 18, please come to school from 5:30-6:30 for some hands-on building challenges, some brain growth, and a lot of fun with your family! We hope to see you there! |
