Seven science has been diving further into the different states of matter and also into the different physical and chemical changes that go on between substances. We are getting ever closer to the end of our unit, which means that we will be having a unit test in the days ahead. I review will be provided In Showbie for them, and it is encouraged that it be used to help study for the upcoming assessment.
Eighth grade science is taking a look at the earths crust. We are starting off this adventure into geology by watching a National Geographic movie titled “Drain the Worlds Oceans”. So far they seem to really be enjoying it. From here we will begin to look at the geosphere, the sphere that contains all landforms and geologic processes which go on in our world. I think they are really truly going to enjoy this unit.
Seven social studies needs to begin preparing for their upcoming quiz on chapter 3 - Mesopotamia. There are four sections from which we pulled material to broaden our minds about this ancient civilization. The test is currently scheduled for next week Wednesday. After we wrap up Mesopotamia, we will dive into the ancient Egyptian world by studying the pyramids, civilizations, the Almighty Nile, and also the great mythology and believes of this world renowned culture.
Eighth-grade social studies did an excellent job on a Socratic circle that focused on the Atlantic slave trade. One group had 20 minutes to discuss concerns and ideas revolving a primary resource, and when time was up, a second group was able to continue on the discussion. From here we will begin to look more closely at the French explorers and the impact that they had throughout the Great Lakes region.
A friendly reminder that next week Wednesday grades five through eight will be attending a play at Waterford union high school. The play focuses on the life and diary of Anne Frank.
