7 Science is wrapping up their posters and learning on the fundamentals of the periodic table of the elements. Once we wrap this up, we will take a look at how we utilize energy in our daily lives, as well as the different ways we experience energy in the world around us. Sounds energizing! Posters are due on Monday, October 29.
8 Science finishes up their look at the different land forms created through erosion and deposition and then dives deeper into the earth's crust to look at soil creation, earthquakes and plate tectonics, and the rock cycle as well as mineral characteristics and uses.
7 Social Studies is almost done with their study of Egypt. The class has been creating question and answer cards to use for their board games that they will be making with their peers in the week ahead. We watched a really neat video using claymation to learn about mummification, and they also had another chance to learn about the Egyptians by a song from the ever popular Mr. Nicky.
8 Social Studies ended last week by being taxed for their clothes, iPad use, and school supplies - they paid in skittles! The simulation demonstrated the idea of "No taxation without representation" and was a hit. From here. we will continue to follow in the foot steps of Washing, Franklin and Jefferson as we begin our study of the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, the Intolerable Act and finally the Revolutionary War. A friendly reminder that the colony projects are due their Thursday, November 1.
A big thank you to all who made Fall Fest a success for our students and community!
And finally, there is no school on Friday, November 2nd, so please enjoy the extra with your students!
