7 Science has been busy with Forward exams, but have been doing a great job keeping pace with learning about the bodies systems and how we regulate temperature and nutrients through the cardiovascular system. We will be looking at the bodies ability to maintain homeostasis and look at how changing environments impact us before moving on to look at the spread of different viruses and infections.
8 Science is wrapping up their study of the environment and climate change over the years. We are beginning PLTW with a closer look at Biomedical Careers, then checking out our bodies circulatory system and how it can help to regulate temperature and nutrients. We will then look more closely at the spread of germs through contact.
7 Social Studies just wrapped up their study of Islam and will take a trip through some of the early civilizations of Africa; including Ghana, Mali, Songhai and Zimbabwe. From there, we will check out the civilizations in Central America and also look further into the development of Europe.
8 Social Studies has been learning about the changes and reforms brought to light prior to the Civil War that brought greater attention to inequalities rights of the oppressed. They have been creating Facebook pages for these famous reformers, and will be putting them on display at the end of the chapter. From there, we look into the further separation between northern and southern states as Abraham Lincoln makes a run at the presidency and further divides the nation.
